Halloween Costumes Web Design
Political Masks was a project started by Mankato Web Design’s creator Matthew Peschong. The website sold various costumes, accessories, and political masks year round. The website also received some written accolades in the 2007 Halloween season regarding the sales of Barack Obama masks.
Organization was a major concern for the Political Masks website. With literally hundreds of products categories had to be composed and pages for each item had to be created.
The most crucial parts of the website included the integration of a content management system, ecommerce integration (the ability for customers to make purchases online with credit cards), and search engine optimization.
This project for Political Masks involved the following:
- Website Design
- Ecommerce Integration
- Product Description Writing
- Drop Shipping Capabilities
- Backend For Managing Products and Sales
- Extensive Search Engine Optimization
- Link Building and Monthly Optimization
Project Results:
Mankato Web Design created a cohesive, easy to navigate, website for Political Masks. Multiple categories were created and pages for each category were also made. Search Engine Optimization, a Mankato Web Design specialty, was incorporated into every page. This includes the category pages as well as each individual product page. The website preformed extremely well as a result of this, and provided a large customer base in only a few months.
Political Masks ranks extremely high on the search engines year round; however, this is extremely true around the peak Halloween season. These high rankings gained the attention of The New York Post, Slate, and several other noteworthy news and television sources which all provided information on the website during the 2007 Halloween season.
Due to the nature of the website product imagery also played an important role in the success of the website. To remedy this issue multiple pictures of each product were featured, including a thumbnail of each item as well as a larger image.
